Payroll - Employee Payroll Process
In CrewAngle, Staff Employees and Freelance Employees follow the same general payroll process. Both are treated as employees for payroll purposes rather than as independent contractors.
1. Work Is Recorded
CrewAngle tracks eligible work throughout the pay period, including:
- Production assignments
- Hours worked
- Regular time
- Overtime
- Double time, when applicable
- Other eligible pay or work
Production assignments and recorded hours are used to build the employee’s timecard.
2. Review and Complete the Timecard
CrewAngle prepares a timecard containing the employee’s eligible work for each pay period.
While the timecard is still in Draft, the employee can review the information and add permitted non-production work or other eligible entries.
The employee should review the timecard for accuracy before submitting it.
3. Submit the Timecard
Once the timecard is complete, the employee selects Submit to send it to Payroll for review.
After submission, the employee can no longer make changes unless Payroll returns the timecard for correction.
4. Payroll Reviews the Timecard
Payroll reviews the submitted timecard, including hours, pay rates, overtime, and other applicable pay information.
After reviewing the timecard, Payroll can:
- Approve — The timecard is complete and ready for payroll processing.
- Reject — The timecard is returned to the employee with an explanation of what needs to be corrected.
If a timecard is rejected, the employee can make the requested changes and resubmit it to Payroll.
5. Approved Timecards Are Added to a Pay Batch
Approved timecards can be grouped into a Pay Batch for processing.
Pay Batches allow Payroll to organize employee pay for a specific pay period and prepare the information for the organization’s payroll provider.
6. Send Payroll Information to the Payroll Provider
CrewAngle can generate payroll data for download, including information such as:
- Employee IDs
- Regular wages
- Overtime wages
- Other applicable pay
An authorized Payroll user then submits the payroll information into the payroll provider.
7. Employees Are Paid
The organization and/or payroll provider handle the actual payment of employees, including direct deposits, checks, payroll taxes, deductions, and other payroll transactions.
CrewAngle is used to track work, calculate eligible pay, review and approve timecards, and prepare payroll information. CrewAngle does not directly transfer funds or issue employee payments.
